With the quatix 8 Pro Garmin is launching the ultimate marine multisport smartwatch for all activities both on and off the water. Thanks to the new built-in inReach technology (active subscription required) For satellite and LTE connections, an interactive SOS emergency call can be made if necessary – completely independently of a smartphone. Particularly useful: when Boat Mode is switched on, apps linked to the boat or relevant to water sports are activated, allowing you to take full control quickly at any time.
The quatix 8 Pro is available in a 47-millimetre size and offers a battery life of up to 15 days in smartwatch mode and up to 44 hours in GPS mode. Its robust, elegant design, featuring a 1.4-inch AMOLED display, a titanium bezel and scratch-resistant sapphire crystal, makes the quatix 8 Pro the perfect companion on board.
Thanks to integrated inReach technology for satellite and LTE connectivity, the quatix 8 Pro keeps you connected at all times – even up to 80 kilometres offshore. Depending on availability, the watch uses the appropriate technology: If an LTE connection is available, you can make voice calls and share your location via LiveTrack. The satellite connection, on the other hand, is used for exchanging text messages and for location check-ins. Location updates are sent to designated contacts so that your route can be tracked.
In the event of an emergency, an SOS alert can be triggered via the watch. The quatix 8 Pro sends a message via satellite or LTE to Garmin Response, the international emergency coordination centre staffed 24/7. From there, Garmin Response communicates with the person who requested assistance, their listed emergency contacts, search and rescue organisations, and other available local resources. They keep everyone informed of the progress of the operation, including confirmation as soon as help is on its way, and remain available throughout the operation. The watch has been developed based on the experience gained by the Garmin Response team over almost two decades, including more than 1,200 inReach operations at sea.
The enhanced boat mode makes it easier than ever to take full control of the helm on board. This feature activates apps linked to the boat, allowing you to control the autopilot or electric motor directly from your wrist. If Boat Mode is deactivated, the watch face will instead display apps needed for everyday life or, where applicable, for activities at the gym.
Equipped with a built-in speaker and microphone, as well as a range of specific marine functions, the quatix 8 Pro is the ultimate smartwatch for the helm. Navigation is controlled via voice commands (provided a Bluetooth connection is established), and with just a few taps, the quatix becomes a remote control for Garmin trolling motors, entertainment systems and lighting systems.
But even away from the water, the watch impresses with its comprehensive health and fitness tracking, including heart rate monitoring, heart rate variability, sleep monitoring, breathing tracking, Pulse Ox and much more. A wide range of indoor and outdoor sports apps, such as running and golf, track activities reliably. In everyday life, additional features such as smart notifications, music storage and Garmin Pay for contactless payments also come in handy.
