Electric winches: Comfort at the touch of a button
Electric winches are expensive - but existing winches can be retrofitted with an electric drive at a lower cost. The overview in PDF download

At the latest when the Windex has to be aligned and a crew member is cranked into the mast for this purpose, there is nothing more desirable than an electric winch. But an electric winch can be helpful not only in this - quite rare - situation. On large boats and many older boats with large foresails, tightening the foresheet after tacking also involves considerable effort. For older sailors in particular, the electric winch provides an enormous increase in comfort and safety.

Boats that were previously only equipped with manual winches can also be retrofitted with electric drives in most cases. You can find out what this costs, what else can be electrified in addition to sheet winches and how big the winch should be in YACHT 25/2019. The magazine is available in the DK shop or you can download the overview via the link below.
