In co-operation with Marine Products Engineering, Harken offers a pneumatic boom lowering device. This uses only air pressure to push the boom upwards without metal springs. This not only reduces parts and weight, but also enables completely stepless trimming. The resistance can be regulated depending on the boat and wind conditions by inflating or deflating the air. The system should remain smooth-running and squeak-free.
The construction is made of anodised 6061-T6 aluminium, which makes it light and strong. Tubes and end fittings are bolted together, eliminating fasteners and dissimilar metals to prevent corrosion. Harken also offers various replacement parts and also makes it possible to replace the pole and boom fittings with high-quality stainless steel parts.
The tie-downs are also designed to be easy to install. External trim systems are available as options, fitted exclusively with Harken fittings. They are pre-measured, spliced and finished with line specially selected for the application.
The Vang Master series is available in four cylinder diameters, with a choice of eight standard lengths. Size 1 weighs 1.25 kilograms, is 1,016 millimetres long when extended and costs from 1,590 euros. Customised sizes are possible.
