With a new type of mounting plate, lever clamps for furling and furling lines can be fitted to the foot rail in a minimally invasive way

Assembly in the deck means bolting and sealing. And all of this requires being able to place nuts and washers or even shims in the first place; this is often made more difficult by inner shells or other installations. It may also be necessary to replace a sandwich core with solid laminate. Or the shipyard has already installed aluminium plates at the point in question, into which threads are cut.

In any case, it's easier with the new adapter plate that Kohlhoff from Kiel is launching on the market under the name Loop Foot Rail Bracket (L-FRB). The aluminium plate is mounted on the side with a simple clamping device on the existing foot rail, which is available on various standard yachts. The plate can be fixed in any position with three Allen screws. The plate accepts single or double halyard stoppers from the manufacturers Spinlock, Easy, Antal or Lewmar.

The retrofit kit is therefore a welcome addition to make it easier to operate furling lines or endless furling lines for the Code Zero or furling gennaker, even where the winches are positioned.

Two models are available: L-FRB-1 (172 euros) measures 140 by 40 millimetres and weighs 370 grams. L-FBR-2 (175 euros) is 25 millimetres wider and weighs 444 grams. Both plates have a working load of around 450 kilograms.

To order from the Kohlhoff GmbH.
