The sailing cinema in Kiel
In Kiel, sailors can drop anchor for a free cinema visit on the first two weekends in September. Maritime films will be shown in the world's first sailing cinema

When the days get shorter, the blue hour begins with paraffin light and cosy music in the cockpit. In Kiel, sailors can now anchor in a designated area of the fjord for the sailing cinema, similar to a drive-in cinema. From Friday, 2 September, to Sunday, 4 September, and from Friday, 9 September, to Sunday, 11 September, a film will be shown daily at around 9 pm. The sound can be received via a radio frequency.

Colourful programme in the sailing cinema

For the programme This year, the Cinemare International Sea Film Festival Kiel, Cinemaxx Kiel, Studio Filmtheater and Metro Kino im Schlosshof will be providing the entertainment. The association Zeitzeugenstudio e. V. is commemorating the 1972 Olympic sailing competitions with its "Kielympia" film, and NDR is sending the Kiel "Tatort" detective Borowski into action.

The sailing cinema is free of charge. However, as places are limited, interested parties must reserve a berth per boat in advance. This is possible by calling the Kiel telephone number 901-4400 or here online. Not only sailing boats can take part. A prerequisite for participation is that the boat has an engine.
