Turkey has become a serious player in boatbuilding. Not only exciting superyacht projects The country at the interface between Orient and Occident is also demonstrating its ambitions in series production.
Sirena Marine is particularly determined. After launching the Azuree performance range just a few years ago, the ultra-modern company now wants to join the luxury league with the new Euphoria line.
Their first model, the Euphoria 54, can be seen at boot Düsseldorf, combining very clean, clear lines with an impression of understated noblesse. This makes a convincing impression at first glance and will continue to appeal for years to come. An appearance that is usually found in current Swans - unagitated but distinguished.
The proximity to Nautor is no coincidence. The Briton Patrick Lilley, long-time UK representative of the Finnish luxury brand, is part of the top management at Euphoria. And Germán Frers, who has worked for Nautor since the 1980s, supplied the design drawings.
The 54 is designed for operation with a small crew. All control lines are led into the cockpit, most of them to the two helm stations. Electric winches from Harken make operation easier. The main is sheeted in front of the companionway, which leaves the crew undisturbed by the sheet during manoeuvres and simplifies the use of a bimini.
In the tests for the European Yacht of the Year award, the Euphoria 54 impressed with its agile sailing characteristics and good feel for the rudder. The carbon fibre laminated blade can be guided easily and precisely, which is also thanks to the very good bearings from JP3.
Germán Frers describes the yacht's design as follows: "My aim was to design a contemporary, seaworthy and safe 54-footer that combines good performance with maximum luxury below deck. The hull shape with a pronounced U-frame and the deck layout offer a good balance between performance, ease of use and comfort." Although there is an optional carbon rig with a strongly flared squarehead top in the main, which promises more performance, the Euphoria is "primarily intended for cruising sailors and charter operations who appreciate easy handling," says the designer.
Design Unlimited created the clean finish in limed oak. It looks spacious and modern, but also elaborate and sophisticated in many details. For example, the door openers on the beautifully moulded navigation table are hidden to the side so as not to break the lines. The cupboard, in which wine glasses and bottles can be stored, also follows this principle, as does the beautifully integrated writing and dressing table in the owner's cabin in the foredeck.
The detailed YACHT test will follow shortly. Here are the technical specifications of the Euphoria 54
