"This is exactly how we wanted the ship to be," says Comar boss Massimo Guardigli, delighted with the latest construction number, which is currently premiering at the trade fair in Düsseldorf. Below deck, the high level of comfort is surprising.
After the first construction numbers from the Polish licence production did not quite meet the expectations of the Italians from Fiumicino near Rome, today they are all the more pleased about the first really finished series ship.
Obviously, the Poles have once again worked on various areas. Inside, the carpets glued to the sides have disappeared. Instead, the boat builders have now fitted white-painted plywood stanchions. This looks much better than the prototype from the YACHT test (issue 2/11) and is also easier to clean.
And the exhibition boat is already equipped with the mast of a new manufacturer. As a nominee for European Yacht of the Year, the prototype lost its mast at the jury trials in Barcelona in only medium winds. The reason given was structural faults in the backstayless Bergström rig. Comar responded by switching to the French mast manufacturer ag+. The black anodised profile now appears more stable and is also visually more attractive. For the first time, the Comet 26 has also been fitted with the optional fixed bow nose. A gennaker or a code zero can be attached to it. It also serves as a step when boarding and disembarking via the bow.
The Comet 26 is fully suitable for cruising. Four or a maximum of five people can spend the night on the boat in acceptable comfort. There is also a kitchenette and a chemical toilet. There is also a proper wet room of a usable size. There is not only a permanently installed toilet, but also a sink with pull-out shower. The Comet 26 also scores highly in terms of storage space: There are three really spacious lockers in the cockpit, a real novelty for small cruisers.
