The My-AIS is smaller than a packet of cigarettes and is designed to alert ships within a radius of ten nautical miles

The My-AIS from French manufacturer Simy is an emergency transmitter that alerts ships within a radius of up to ten nautical miles. According to the manufacturer, it is the smallest device on the market, measuring 11 x 4 x 2 centimetres. Worn on the lifejacket, it triggers on contact with water if a crew member falls overboard and then transmits an AIS signal with an exact position.

This allows the crew to localise the MOB on the plotter, or other ships can come to the rescue. An LED flash light also emits a visual signal for easier retrieval. The My-AIS has a holder for attaching to the mouthpiece for inflating the automatic lifejacket and is included in the packaging.
