The New Zealand roller reefing systems have a new sales partner
The northern German technology specialist Sailtec is the first distributor for Leisure Furl's boom furling systems

Furling systems for mainsails are always a bone of contention among sailors. Dangerous or not, mature or dangerous, sensible or pointless - the arguments have been similar for years. However, the market has constantly evolved and Elvström and Seldén now even offer rigs with a flared top section.

Another long-standing participant is the Schenefeld-based technology wholesaler Sailtec. The company has been offering boom furling systems from a wide range of manufacturers since 1984. Sailtec has now decided to become the German distributor for Leisure Furl reefing boom systems. The Leisure Furl system originally comes from New Zealand and has been the leading product of this technology for years, according to Sailtec.

"From rather complicated beginnings, the technology has now arrived with Leisure Furl at perfectly working and very aesthetic furling systems, which are available in both aluminium and composite material," says the company from Schenefeld. Leisure Furl offers eight model sizes and thus covers the range from 8m yachts to superyachts with a boom length of 15 metres and more. According to the manufacturer, the furling boom can be easily retrofitted to any mast and uses the mast and rig as they are. However, a new mainsail must be purchased, as the furling boom system requires a product specially manufactured for Leisure Furl.
