Yanmar presents two new Saildrives. Here is the SD110 model.
The SD110 and SD150 have been specially developed for sailing yachts and catamarans up to 65 feet and are designed to score points with low vibrations, simple installation and optimised flow resistance.

Yanmar has expanded its product portfolio for the sailing sector with two new Saildrive models. The new SD110 and SD150 systems have been designed for monohulls and catamarans up to 65 feet in size. The special feature of the new drive systems is the combination of common rail technology and saildrive efficiency for boats with more powerful engines. The SD110 Saildrive is offered with the 4JH80 and 4JH110 engine models, while the SD150 is paired with Yanmar's 4LV150 engine. Both systems were presented at the Cannes Yachting Festival. The numbers in the type designations of the engine models stand for the power output in horsepower. This means that the new saildrives offer the option of motorising larger yachts with 80, 110 or 150 hp.

Technical features and advantages

The common rail engines from Yanmar harmonise with the electrically controlled saildrives and ensure a clean installation and smooth operation. Thanks to the electro-hydraulic shifting and the recommended folding propeller, the saildrives significantly reduce noise and vibrations, which should contribute to an overall higher level of comfort on board. Both the SD110 and SD150 models are compatible with a Flexofold folding propeller, which is known for its extremely low drag, safety and efficient operation. The low flow resistance benefits sailing performance. The electro-hydraulic control system is designed to simplify installation. This makes it easier to install two throttle levers on boats with two steering positions. Instead of a Bowden cable, only cables need to be laid.

Both Saildrive models are available in a long and a short version. The short version is the standard. Both the SD110 and SD150 models measure 49.1 centimetres from the flange to the propeller shaft in the standard version. The manufacturer specifies a weight of 90 kilograms.

Global support and service network

A particular advantage for customers using these Saildrives worldwide is Yanmar's comprehensive global service network. This is available in over 130 countries and offers boat owners the safety and support they need, no matter where they are. Floris Lettinga, Director of Sales & Marketing at Yanmar Marine International, emphasises the benefits of the new products: "With the introduction of the SD110 and SD150 saildrives into the Yanmar range, we are reaffirming our commitment to our customers by ensuring that our products are compact, easy and safe to install."
