D2-75
The new engine from Volvo Penta, the D2-75

Even before the official presentation, YACHT was the first magazine in the world to have the exclusive opportunity to test the new power unit from Volvo Penta.

The D2-75 is particularly relevant for boats between 11 and 15 metres in length. It was developed from the D2-55, which was created two years ago and immediately became a great sales success all over the world.

The new machine has a much more compact design than its predecessor, which is particularly important when replacing the engine. Thanks to its state-of-the-art control system, the machine already fulfils the very strict US emissions standard, which will come into force in 2006 and which the EU is also planning to adopt.

The new engine weighs 240 kilograms and has a displacement of 2.2 litres. The oil change intervals have been increased to 400 operating hours or once a year. The noise level of the D2-75 is also low. Just 69 decibels (A) were measured in the cabin during cruising.

You can find the complete test of the new Volvo Penta engine in the new YACHT , on newsstands from tomorrow, 30 July.
