Jackery is expanding its portfolio with the Explore 500 V2, a compact power station for mobile use on boats. With a capacity of 512 watt hours, various connections and a weight of 5.7 kilograms, it offers a practical power supply for water sports enthusiasts.

On small sailing boats without a permanently installed power supply, power stations can make the trip more comfortable. The large versions of the power bank offer a battery, charger, inverter and sockets in one housing. With the Explore 500 V2, Jackery has a handy power station in its programme that is designed for use on small boats. With a capacity of 512 watt hours, it supplies smartphones, tablets and even a cool box with power for up to two days. The output power is specified by the manufacturer as 500 watts, which is more than sufficient for most mobile devices. With dimensions of 31.1 centimetres wide and 15.7 centimetres deep, the compact power station has a space-saving design and weighs just 5.7 kilograms. For boaters who need a reliable power supply on longer trips, the Explore 500 V2 offers a practical solution at a price of 299 euros.

Versatile connection options

The power station is equipped with a variety of connections that allow flexible use of different devices. In addition to several USB ports for mobile devices, the Explore 500 V2 has a twelve-volt socket that can be used for cool boxes or other on-board devices, for example. There are also two 230-volt mains voltage sockets for operating devices with higher power requirements. The variety of connections makes the power station a universal companion for various applications on the water. Particularly practical: according to the manufacturer, the Explore 500 V2 can be fully charged in just one hour using shore power, which ensures that it is ready for use quickly.

Compact design with limitations

With 27 per cent less volume compared to conventional 0.5 kWh solar generators on the market, the Explore 500 V2 is particularly space-saving. This is based on calculations of the average volume of comparable products and represents a significant advantage for use on small boats, where storage space is often limited. However, the manufacturer does point out some limitations: The Powerstation does not support 0 ms switching and should therefore not be connected to devices that require an uninterruptible power supply, such as data servers or workstations. However, this is not a relevant limitation for typical use on boats with smartphones, cameras and similar devices.
