This is what a typical electrical system of a small cruiser might look like. Important: All circuits are fused
Listening to the radio, reading in the evening or cold drinks - electricity makes it all possible. But what does an electrical system look like? And do you need it at all?

Anyone who sails a small cruiser as a daysailer because they love the simplicity, perhaps as a dropout from the higher, faster, further of large yachts, will be happy about every component that is not on board and therefore cannot cause any problems. Electricity on board? Not necessary.

However, anyone who owns a boat of 20 feet or less, perhaps because they have yet to save up the budget for a larger vessel, will be delighted to have some comfort on board. A place to charge your smartphone, some music, maybe even a fridge.

If you want to rely on navigation using a plotter, VHF radio and, above all, full-blown position lights, you need to think about an on-board power supply.

What do I need to consider? How big should the battery be? How thick are the cables? And what does such a network, which is usually retrofitted, actually look like? All this can be found in the article on theTopic electrics on small boats in booklet22/2013 of the YACHTwhich will be available from16 October at the kiosk is ready.
