Compact and easy to operate: The Hydromax 150 fuel cell from Dynad-International
The Hydromax can supply up to 150 watts of power to charge the batteries. The highlight: a salt and malic acid are sufficient energy sources

According to the manufacturer, both substances are so harmless that they are not considered hazardous during transport. This means that simply sending them by post is not a problem. The ingredients are also not flammable or toxic if inhaled, such as methanol, hydrogen or propane/butane gas, which are also used as energy sources in other fuel cell systems.

According to the manufacturer, Dynad International BV from Noord-Schaarwoude, operation is very simple: just connect the two containers with the malic acid and the salt, which the user mixes with water in the canister, select the type of battery to be charged (lead-acid, AGM, gel or lithium-ion) and switch on the device. Now the salt dissolved in the water and the malic acid are mixed. This produces hydrogen, which is converted directly into electrical energy and water in the cell. What remains is the same water, which contains a few residues of malic acid. After use, the cell automatically runs through a six-minute cleaning cycle, the waste water from which can be released into the environment, according to Dynad.

Installation in the back box is not a problem, but sufficient oxygen must be available in the form of fresh air. The cell works fully automatically. When a minimum voltage is reached, it switches on and charges the batteries. If you want to keep up to date with the status of the nine-kilogram device, you can use the remote control to query all parameters from the navigation table, for example.

The Hydromax 150 costs 3,376 euros, the remote control a further 363 euros. www.dynad-hydromax.com
