A waterproof case for a tablet PC is one thing, but without a fastening it can go overboard more quickly than expected. 3Sails also recognised this and has developed a series of hard-shell cases under the Armor-X brand that can be combined with various fastening solutions.

With a protection class of IP X7, the iPad and co. are sufficiently protected against moisture in the Armor-X packaging, so even a fall overboard should not be a problem for a short time. But thanks to the available clamping systems, this idea is theoretical. Mounting systems with flexible clamps are available for both iPhones and iPads. These can be attached to handrails or control columns, for example. A quick-release fastener allows the device to be removed quickly to charge it below deck or to secure it against theft. It remains to be seen whether the suction cup holder that is also offered is really helpful.

According to the manufacturer, the devices are still fully accessible inside the hard-shell housing. The touchscreen is operated via a robust film.

The prices for the waterproof cases for the iPad are 49 euros, the mounting system costs 40 to 50 euros extra. For the iPhone, the prices are between 35 and 45 euros, depending on the mounting system.
