The anemometer called Calypso Cups 4.0 works without a cable. The system supplies itself with energy via a small solar cell and transmits the data to the smartphone via Bluetooth. This means that there are virtually no limits to the installation options. The Spanish manufacturer Calypso Instruments also offers two special brackets for mounting. This allows the anemometer to be mounted on a tube or on the side of a mast or superstructure.
The transmission via Bluetooth has a range of 50 metres, so reception on average yachts should not be a problem. The system is also more suitable for skippers who do not yet have an instrument system on board into which they could integrate an anemometer. This is because the Calypso Cup 4.0 data is only displayed via the manufacturer's free app. The anemometer costs 544 euros. The attachment for wall mounting costs 30 euros, for rail mounting 55 euros.
