The Cyclops smartlink² Atto is a wireless load sensor that provides sailors with precise data to optimise their trim settings. Weighing just 75 grams and with a maximum working load of 250 kilograms, it is particularly suitable for dinghies and small racing boats. The sensor makes it possible to retrieve dynamic live load data and make repeatable settings for precise boat trimming.
Simple installation and operation
Installation of the Atto is straightforward. The sensor is simply looped into the line to be measured. Data is transmitted wirelessly to a smartphone or tablet, which saves additional cabling work. The measured values can be read out and analysed in real time via an associated app. This enables sailors to adjust and optimise their trim settings immediately. The optimum trim can be determined and repeated for different wind strengths during training. With appropriate markings, the ice positions can then be reproduced in the regatta even without measurement technology.
Practical functions
Thanks to its compact design and low weight, the Cyclops Atto is easy to install. It is conceivable, for example, that it could be used for the Opti. However, the maximum working load of 250 kilograms limits the area of application to smaller boats and light water sports equipment. For larger yachts or heavily loaded areas in rigging or halyards, more powerful sensors are required. Cyclops also offers these, for example in the form of a shroud tensioner.
The Cyclops smartlink² Atto measures 68 x 79 x 15 millimetres and can be attached using a shackle or lashing. Rope with a maximum diameter of 12 millimetres can be threaded through the eyelets on both sides. Water resistance is specified as IP68 and above. This means that permanent submersion at a maximum water depth of 1.5 metres for 30 minutes should not cause any damage. Charging the integrated battery takes one hour, and up to 1,800 hours of operation should be possible on a single charge. This also depends on the frequency of data storage. This can be set wirelessly via the Smartfittings app. This is also used to display the data in real time. The Cyclops Atto can also transfer the measured values directly to the Vakaros display transmitted. With a special gateway from Cyclops, the data can also be transferred to an NMEA2000 network and displayed on the plotter.
The Cyclops smartlink² Atto costs 645 euros and is distributed in Germany by Gotthardt Yacht.
