Originally only the iPad was mentioned, but now Raymarine is presenting software for almost the entire tablet and smartphone world. In addition to Apple's iOS and Android, there is even a version for Kindle Fire. Raymarine provides three apps:
Rayview is free of charge and repeats the plotter's image content on the tablet or smartphone. Remote control is not possible here. Rayview runs on smartphones and tablets.
The full version of RayControl is available for around 40 euros - a complete and fully functional second operating station for the Raymarine plotters of the new e- and c-series. Thanks to a virtual keypad on the touchscreen, even the buttons on the plotter can be operated realistically. RayControl runs on tablets with a screen diagonal of at least 7 inches.
The RayRemote remote control software costs around 24 euros. This displays a keypad on the touchscreen of smartphones, with which all important functions of the plotter can be operated. RayControl and RayRemote can also be used simultaneously; the smartphone with the remote software then controls the plotter and tablet.
The only limitation of the system: for safety reasons, Raymarine does not allow the autopilot to be controlled via mobile devices. Otherwise, for example, a crashed smartphone could cause unwanted course changes.
