At the beginning of last year, B&G launched the compact seven-inch chart plotter Vulcan presents now the Americans have expanded the range of functions to include the predictive echo sounder technology Forwardscan extended. The system was previously reserved for the more expensive Zeus 2 plotters and also required a black box called a Sonar Hub. The forward scan encoder can be connected directly to the new Vulcan models, making the system around 700 euros cheaper. The prices for the plotter have also been reduced. The Vulcan 7 will be available from February and will cost 832 euros. In order to use the forward-looking echo sounder, however, a special transducer is added, for which 237 euros are due.

If the Vulcan 7 is still too big for you, you can opt for the new 5-inch version. The range of functions corresponds to that of the larger model, but the smaller display makes the Vulcan 5 somewhat more compact and it is also around 250 euros cheaper. The Vulcan 5 with forward scan support will also be available from February and costs 654 euros.

As pure touchscreen devices, the Vulcan plotters only have a button for switching on and off, the other functions are controlled via the display. As the Vulcan devices are also very well suited as daughter displays, the desire for an external control panel quickly arises; this is available under the name ZC2. The panel combines a turn-and-push controller and a keypad that makes the displays easy to operate. A powerful loudspeaker is also integrated. The control panel is looped into the NMEA 2000 bus and can control up to four displays. Depending on the desired installation position, it can be ordered in portrait or landscape format. It is compatible with all Zeus 2 and Vulcan plotters and costs 475 euros.

The new fuel data manager from B&G is also designed for the NMEA 2000 bus. It stores data on fuel consumption or a machine interface connected to the network and can monitor up to three engines. The range also includes flow sensors for fuel, level sensors for fuel, oil, drinking water, grey water or black water tanks. Pressure sensors can be used to monitor the cooling water as well as the engine charging pressure, engine oil pressure or transmission oil pressure. The temperature sensors are calibrated for the water temperature, but can also be used to monitor the temperature of the engine compartment or as an external or internal thermometer. The level sensor, fuel data manager, pressure sensor and temperature sensor are available from 118 euros. The fuel flow meter costs 261 euros.
