MaxSea's software and Furuno's Navnet plotters have been working together seamlessly for some time now. However, those who wanted to navigate exclusively on the PC previously encountered an insurmountable obstacle: radar was only possible via the plotter. However, carrying two navigation systems just for this reason is not practical, especially on small and medium-sized yachts.
Furuno now provides the solution: the new DRS2D radar antenna from the Navnet 3D series is simply connected to the on-board computer via Ethernet cable. The MaxSea Time Zero Explorer software then realises all the radar functions on the PC that a plotter can handle, including chart overlay and linking with AIS.
A Windows system from XP, 1 GB RAM and a DirectX 9.0c-compatible graphics card are required for operation.
The DRS2D with 2.2 kilowatts of transmission power in the version for PC connection costs 3007 euros, while the version with 4 kilowatts of power (DRS4D) is available for 175 euros more. The Navnet 3D TimeZero Explorer software required for the PC is priced at 1785 euros.
