DAME Award: Lifejacket from TeamO wins the most important equipment prize

A new lifejacket has won the main category of the annual DAME Design Award presented at the Mets equipment trade fair in Amsterdam. The product from the young English manufacturer TeamO with the somewhat unwieldy name "Offshore 150N Hi-Lift Lifejacket & Harness" was able to prevail among the 85 products from 28 countries.

Buoyancy on the back of the lifejacket provides more freeboard

The special feature: The waistcoat apparently works with additional buoyancy at the back, which lifts the upper body out of the water better and should ensure a stable swimming position. According to the jury, which includes German designer Klaus Roeder, this increase in performance means that the 150 Newton waistcoat even promises to surpass the ISO standard for a waistcoat with 275 Newtons of buoyancy. According to the experts, the redistribution of the volume of the buoyancy bladder makes the lifejacket slimmer overall, which increases user acceptance and makes the waistcoat easier to put on. The waistcoat is also equipped with TeamO's Backtow system, a recovery aid that also allows the MOB to be towed in the supine position.
