Gleistein is launching two new line types: The RunnerSprint is suitable for racing sailors, while the GripMania offers comfort for cruising sailors.

Gleistein is expanding its range with two new line types tailored to the needs of racing and cruising sailors. The RunnerSprint is aimed at racing sailors, while the GripMania has been designed for cruising sailors. Both lines offer specialised properties for their respective areas of use.

RunnerSprint for regatta sailors

The RunnerSprint is a high-performance line for regatta yachts up to 50 feet. The cover is made of polyester, Technora and Vectran. The mixture ensures good grip, abrasion resistance and heat resistance. These properties ensure improved stability when used on winches.

The core of the RunnerSprint is made of DynaOne and is stripable. This allows sailors to specifically reduce the weight of the line - a decisive advantage in regattas, where every gram counts as a gennaker sheet in light winds. The line is available in diameters from 10 to 16 mm. The breaking loads range from 5000 to 13000 decanewtons.

Compared to conventional racing lines, RunnerSprint offers greater heat resistance. This reduces the risk of melting damage during intensive use on winches, especially during fast foiling.

Handling the RunnerSprint requires special care due to its technical characteristics. Sailors should regularly check for signs of wear and tear, especially in heavily used areas such as clamps and deflections. Regular cleaning with fresh water after contact with salt water extends the service life.

GripMania for cruising sailors

The GripMania is aimed at cruising sailors and is designed for yachts up to 45 feet. It is characterised by a soft, slightly woolly surface that is comfortable to hold and at the same time offers good grip in clamps and on winches. It is made from polyester.

This line is available in diameters from 6 to 14 mm. The breaking loads are between 700 and 3300 decnewtons. Compared to the RunnerSprint, the GripMania has lower absolute breaking loads, but is more comfortable to handle.

The soft surface of the GripMania reduces the risk of injury to hands during prolonged use. This is particularly important when used as a sheet. The good grip in clamps also minimises the risk of unintentional slipping.

The regatta line RunnerSprint costs 13.90 per metre in 10 millimetre diameter. As the diameter increases, so does the price, up to 35.40 euros per metre for 16 millimetres. GripMania costs 1.20 per metre for the thinnest version with a diameter of 6 millimetres. With a diameter of 10 millimetres it is 2.20 euros and with 14 millimetres it is 4.60 euros.

Gleistein ropes are traded by Lindemann KG in Hamburg. End customers can find the lines in specialised shops.
