With the OFS700 and OFS600, Zhik presents new oilskins that are suitable for offshore use. However, Zhik has positioned it between the offshore and coastal categories. The aim is to utilise the advantages of the lightweight CST500 (YACHT test winner) and the OFS800, which is designed for demanding conditions. Both products are characterised by robust materials, high water resistance and numerous practical details.
For the OFS700 offshore jacket, the manufacturer uses a 3-layer laminate with a water column of over 20,000 millimetres. The high breathability is designed to wick away moisture quickly. The extended cut and high storm collar with fleece lining offer additional protection against wind and wet conditions. The adjustable hood with integrated visor can be stowed away in the collar when not in use. Storm cuffs with PU seals reliably prevent water from penetrating the wrists.
Two hand warmer pockets and a waterproof chest pocket provide storage space. The YKK Aquaguard 2-way zip closes tightly behind a storm flap. Reflectors improve visibility in low light conditions. The OFS700 jacket costs 430 euros.
The OFS700 Salopette uses the same 3-layer material as the OFS700 jacket. Reinforcements on the knees and seat increase durability. Elasticated inserts and articulated knees ensure great freedom of movement. The fit can be customised using shoulder straps and waist buckles. A cargo pocket on the leg and two front pockets provide ample storage space.
At 300 euros, the Salopette is on a par with the OSF600 jacket in terms of price. For sailors who spend a lot of time on deck, they are a worthwhile investment. The trousers are usually worn more often than the jacket, as they keep you dry even when the seat is wet and are not only worn in the rain.
The OFS600 Cruising jacket offers slightly less protection with a water column of 15,000 mm. The medium-high storm collar and the adjustable hood clearly correspond to the Coastal category. Two cargo pockets with fleece lining keep cold hands warm. An inside pocket offers space for valuables.
At a price of 300 euros, the OFS600 is significantly cheaper than the OFS700. It offers good value for money for coastal sailing and occasional offshore use.
