Warm and light for cold days at sea.
The new Bergen Hooded Jacket from Henri Lloyd is designed to keep you warm even on cold days. Made from recycled fishing nets, the mid-layer is designed to be sustainable and environmentally friendly and offer reliable weather protection while minimising weight.

The Bergen Hooded Jacket in Sea Spray Blue is designed as a lightweight, high-performance mid-layer with exceptional versatility. It works both as a stand-alone garment for milder conditions and as a warming mid-layer under a waterproof outer jacket. The combination of reliable thermal protection and high wearing comfort should make it the ideal garment for cruising in low temperatures. The consistent focus on sustainability is reflected in the choice of materials.

Innovative materials made from waste

When developing the Bergen Hooded Jacket, the focus was not only on performance, but also on ecological responsibility. The main material consists of NetPlus® Ripstop, an innovative fabric made from 100 per cent recycled fishing nets. These fishing nets are thus given a second life as a highly functional textile. The water-based PU coating with 47 grams per square metre gives the material additional robustness and weather resistance. The main material is complemented by trimmings made from 100 percent recycled polyester at 37 grams per square metre, which provide additional comfort and an optimised fit. The combination of these materials results in a product that is both technically impressive and aims to make an active contribution to environmental protection.

Sophisticated weather protection

Despite its light weight, the Bergen Hooded Jacket offers effective protection against adverse weather conditions. A C0 DWR (Durable Water Repellent) finish provides light protection against drizzle or spray. However, the jacket is not waterproof and it is advisable to wear an oilskin jacket over it in the rain. The more environmentally friendly C0 version does not use problematic PFC chemicals, which are used in conventional DWR coatings. A 95 gram REPREVE® insulation made from recycled PET provides the necessary warmth. This insulation offers an optimum ratio of thermal performance to weight and pack size - it provides reliable warmth without being bulky or restrictive. This means that the jacket can also be worn well under an oilskin jacket and still offer sufficient freedom of movement.

Versatility as a key factor

The particular strength of the Bergen Hooded Jacket lies in its versatility. Designed as a true all-rounder, it adapts to a wide variety of use scenarios. On milder days, it functions as a lightweight outer jacket that provides sufficient warmth without overheating. In colder conditions on the water, it can easily be worn under a waterproof jacket, where it serves as a warming mid-layer. The slim fit prevents unwanted bulk and ensures optimum freedom of movement - a decisive advantage for dynamic water sports. The Sea Spray Blue colour variant also offers a timeless look that cuts a fine figure both on the water and in everyday life, making the jacket a versatile companion for a wide range of activities. The only disadvantage of using it as a mid-layer can be the fixed hood if the collar of the oilskin jacket is not wide enough.
