Sun protection from Helly Hansen: The longer the sleeves, the less sun cream

Helly Hansen is expanding its Solen collection with a functional UV protection hoodie for water sports enthusiasts. The Shine Solen Half-Zip Sun Hoodie combines reliable sun protection with practical details for use on the water.

Effective UV protection

The hoodie offers a UV protection factor of UPF 50+, which is achieved without chemical treatment. The special material construction made from 80 per cent recycled polyamide and 20 per cent elastane blocks UV radiation purely physically. The protection remains completely intact even when wet - a decisive advantage over conventional UV shirts, whose protective effect often diminishes when wet. Weighing just 230 grams, the garment is light and takes up little storage space when folded.

The men's version has a zip pocket on the chest, while the women's version has a pocket on the back. Both offer sufficient space for small items such as sun cream or keys. The close-fitting hood protects the head and neck without flapping in the wind or restricting visibility. The women's version also has a ponytail opening. The raglan sleeves with thumb holes allow full freedom of movement when sailing and prevent the sleeves from riding up.

The material effectively transports moisture away from the skin and dries quickly. This prevents overheating even during intense activity and high temperatures. Care is uncomplicated: Close the zips before washing, wash with similar colours and do not iron on the print. The bluesign® certification confirms the environmentally friendly production.
