With the Seaboot 400, the Australian manufacturer Zhik has a new boot in its programme that is designed for sailing in coastal areas and should therefore be suitable for crews on the North and Baltic Seas. The outer material is waterproof and breathable. On the inside, a comfortable footbed and lining ensure a high level of comfort. The width can be individually adjusted using the Velcro strap over the midfoot. The boots are also very lightweight.
The rubber compound and structure of the sole were designed with Michelin. It is designed to offer particularly good grip on wet decks. A cap made of particularly abrasion-resistant TPU is placed over the toes to minimise wear when kneeling on rough deck surfaces. The boots are available in sizes from 38 to 47 and cost 270 euros. This makes them significantly more attractively priced than the Seaboot 700 from Zhik.
The Seaboot 700, which has been available since autumn, is designed to provide the best protection from the elements while still being light and comfortable. They won the Dame Award in the personal equipment category at Mets 2023 in Amsterdam.
The new 700 model is said to score points with its particularly low weight of just 500 grams per boot, making it particularly comfortable to wear. The boots are also waterproof, breathable and insulated. The special feature that should keep the boots completely waterproof even in offshore conditions is the gaiters. The trouser legs of the oilskin are tucked into them. This prevents waves from sloshing into the trouser leg from below. The price: 400 euros.
