Padded knees and close-fitting cut
The trousers are cut close to the body, but still offer plenty of freedom of movement. They can be precisely adjusted at the shoulders, waist and ankle cuffs. The knees are not only reinforced, but also anatomically shaped and fitted with thin padding - around one to two millimetres thick. This may not sound like much, but it makes a noticeable difference when kneeling on hard surfaces. The padding provides effective protection when working forward on the deck.
Heat pockets with zip fasteners can be found on both the jacket (two) and the smock. They are lined with fleece and keep your hands warm. There are also two pockets on the thighs of the bib.
Detachable storm flap and hood with viewing windows
The jacket has a detachable storm flap that is pulled into a piping rail. If it gets in the way, you can simply stow it in the pocket. The storm flap has a soft fleece trim that fits snugly around the nose. There is also another storm flap on the zip - and the detachable outer flap, which folds in front of the face like a visor.
The hood is identical on the jacket and smock and has transparent inserts in the peak. This is practical: even if the hood doesn't turn perfectly, you can still see to the side through the transparent areas. Visibility is significantly improved. The hood does not turn perfectly, but it turns well enough. It has a soft, pull-out section at the back of the neck for better comfort. The adjustment is intuitive.
Smock with neoprene cuffs
The smock is an alternative to the jacket - shorter, sportier, with a neoprene cuff at the bottom hem. This fits snugly over the bib and should not let any moisture through, even in heavy spray. Inside, the smock has a removable cuff that also seals against water coming from below. A clever detail: a single button inside the zip. If you want to open the smock in warm weather, this button ensures that the smock still fits the body and does not flap backwards.
The jacket also has a removable inner cuff. The inner, PU-coated, waterproof collar can also be adjusted with Velcro. Many reflectors increase visibility.
Extremely well thought out
The Ocean Pro is an oilskin for sailors who attach great importance to details and want to go out even in bad weather forecasts. Detachable storm flaps, transparent hood inserts, padded knees, detachable cuffs - every detail has a purpose. The fit is close to the body but not restrictive. The material has a high-quality feel and the workmanship is excellent.
