During a hectic search in the back box or a repair on the machine, the first question is always: Where is the torch? The second challenge is then to hold the torch and carry out the repair at the same time. Headlamps are a blessing in precisely such situations. Once on your head, they are always ready and automatically light up in your line of vision.
But when sailing, they should offer even more: allow you to look into the sail at night, also work in the rain and, ideally, have a red light function so that they don't dazzle when looking at the harbour handbook.
In the newYACHT 4/2016 we tested eight models for their on-board suitability.
