The MPX series from Musto is a classic that is particularly popular with offshore sailors thanks to its good weather protection. The collection is now being updated and expanded to include a Coastal line, using 3D laser cutting technology, which reduces the number of seams and ensures less weight. The cut of the sleeves is also designed to be ergonomic. Three-layer Gore-Tex Pro laminate continues to be used as the material, which should ensure the well-known good breathability and waterproofness.
The offshore jacket is available in a men's and women's cut. The hood and collar are lined with a heat-retaining grid fleece and the pre-shaped face protection has been optimised. These innovations are designed to improve freedom of movement and comfort. Price: 639 euros.
The lighter race version with stretch inserts has also been updated and is still available with a salopette and a smock. Prices start at 529 euros for the smock and 569 euros for the race jacket.
The Coastal version of the oilskin is completely new. Until now, sailors who did not need the extreme weather protection of the offshore collar had to make do with the significantly lower-performance BR range or switch to the race version. Jackets and trousers are now available that offer the same durable waterproofness and breathability as the offshore collection. In contrast to the MPX offshore jacket, however, the fleece-lined collar is cut slightly lower.
According to the manufacturer, the jacket and matching trousers are intended for all cruising and demanding coastal sailors who do not want to do without excellent protection in unpredictable weather. Like the Race collection, the Coastal series is only available as a unisex version in XS to XXL. The jacket costs 488 euros.
