The English outdoor outfitter Yeti favours durable goods, making it a good source for sailors. This is particularly true of the Panga bag, which is equipped with a seemingly indestructible waterproof zip and straps that also work in backpack mode. The heavy bag (the 75-litre model weighs around 2.5 kilograms) is made of thickskin, a highly compressed nylon with a thick coating for high abrasion and puncture resistance. Available in orange, grey or beige in sizes 50, 75 and 100 litres from 340 euros.

Vang King from Allen: Kicker for compact cruisers

The fittings manufacturer Allen has launched a universal tube kicker for smaller yachts. The Vang King serves both as a downhaul and as a replacement for the dirk. A gas pressure spring lifts the boom in light winds and relieves the leech, while the kicker acts as a downhaul in stronger winds by pulling the tack. Its force can be reduced by operating a screw on the internal gas cylinder. A special feature is the three eyes at the end of the tube, which can accommodate line ends, shackles or a block. The boom end is equipped with an integrated 38-millimetre disc. The Vang King is available in three versions: Size 1 with a length of 782 to 982 millimetres (€695.50), Size 2 from 1,104 to 1,304 millimetres (€808.70) and Size 2 including a 1:6 talje with clamp for the Melges 24 (€1306.20).

This was long overdue: claw grabs with integrated LED lighting are now available. This eliminates the need to work in parallel with the flexible parts lifter and a torch, for example when unthreading a pilot line from the mast or searching for a lost screw in the hard-to-reach bilge. The flexible helper with the four movable leaf springs at the end is available in several versions, such as in a length of 625 millimetres with a lifting force of up to 800 grams. From 10 euros, from various suppliers
