Hot-air fryers are also on the rise on board as all-electric cooking becomes more popular. It's good if the appliance is reasonably small and light. Take the Easy Fry XL Surface from manufacturer Tefal, for example. It measures 39 x 34 x 20 centimetres and weighs just under five kilograms. The higher the power, the better, and the XL is in the top league with 2,200 watts. The modern harbour network can cope with this, but an on-board inverter can hardly.

According to Tefal, the appliance is extremely versatile and can, for example, prepare one kilogram of fries, up to 25 chicken wings or a 27-centimetre pizza. The Air Fryer has ten fully automatic programmes that can be easily set via the display. Thanks to advanced hot air technology, the Easy Fry is said to enable delicious meals with little or no oil and cooks with double heating coils as well as top and bottom heat. Rare and useful: thanks to the interior lighting and practical viewing window, the user can keep an eye on the cooking process at all times. Nobody said that you can only drink from non-slip or unbreakable cups on board. It can also be stylish: at Tassengott, the name says it all. Delft cups, beautifully shaped, sometimes decorated in gold with unusual motifs: birds, flowers, butterflies, and of course the company also has maritime decor in its programme: ceramic bowls, glasses, coasters and tablecloths. This mug with a fish look and gold-coloured handle was designed by Redmer Hoekstra. His illustrations are instantly recognisable by their humorous and dreamy style. Price: 21.80 euros. Simply place the battery-operated pump on the valve of the boxes or bags; the pump extracts the air from the containers at the touch of a button. It stops automatically as soon as sufficient vacuum has been created; flavours and nutrients are preserved for longer. In addition to the pump, the starter set contains two vacuum bags and two plastic vacuum boxes with a capacity of 1.1 and 2.3 litres respectively. Boxes and even the bags are freezer-proof, dishwasher and microwave safe. They are heat-resistant up to 100 degrees Celsius. Starter set for 70 euros. More information: zwilling.com
