The inflatable Hyperfly Board, which was developed by the E-Foil forge as a spin-off from Audi, is now aimed at beginners and cruisers with a price tag of 14,499 euros. Based on the principle of a scooter, it has been extended to include a steering column.
It's not just about holding on to the handlebars, the resulting weight distribution is just as important. After all, this is crucial for take-off and constant flight. A display is mounted in the centre of the handlebar, with a finger throttle on the outside, which e-surfers use to regulate the load in a similar way to jet skis. The electric motor and impeller are fully encased in the fuselage, so there is no risk of getting caught in rotating parts.
The new iBoard also has a double advantage: firstly, the 230 litres for storage on board shrink to around a fifth of the size, and secondly, you fall softer in the event of a crash. Aerofoil's anti-breach system, which warns of touchdowns or rodeo rides on the display, is designed to increase riding safety even further. If you are travelling safely in foil mode, you can quickly grab the water bottle holder or dry bag with one hand on the column.
