Medical emergencies on board are one of the biggest challenges for skippers and crew. Whether acute illnesses, injuries or life-threatening situations - quick and competent decisions are required to save lives and minimise damage. But what should you do if a crew member's cardiac arrest is recognised, a fracture occurs or seasickness and hypothermia weaken the crew? This is where our webinar "Emergency medicine on board" comes in.

This interactive seminar will give you the knowledge you need to react correctly in critical situations. You will learn how to recognise, assess and treat internal and surgical emergencies. Whether seasickness, heart attack, stroke or open wounds - with the right measures and a little practice, you can provide crucial help.

Contents of the webinar

The webinar series consists of two parts:

  • Part 1: Internal emergencies and acute treatment
    Learn life-saving measures such as cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the use of a defibrillator (AED) and the treatment of acute illnesses such as hypothermia, heat shock and heart attack. Gastroenterological and urological emergencies and the correct communication with Medico are also covered.
  • Part 2: Surgical emergencies and first aid for injuries
    From stopping bleeding and treating fractures to treating burns and eye injuries: We impart practical knowledge and give you the tools you need to treat injuries effectively. Topics such as pain management and accident prevention are also covered.
