Navigation: Faster and brighter, Raymarine introduces Axiom 2 Pro plotter series

It has been a good six years since Raymarine launched the Axiom Pro series of multifunction displays. Back then, they were at the cutting edge with Android operating systems, apps and quad-core processors. Now the English company is following suit and has updated the hardware and software. This includes six-core processors, new, even brighter displays with greater contrast, twice as much memory and improved GPS receivers. As a result, the map is said to be faster and several apps can be run simultaneously on the new Axiom devices.

The displays now offer a brightness of 1,300 nits instead of 1,200 as before. To reduce energy consumption, the lighting is automatically regulated by an ambient light sensor. This is an enormous gain in comfort, especially at dusk and when driving at night. The displays also have a coating called Hydrotough. The extremely water and grease-repellent coating on the touchscreen is designed to improve operation and readability in wet conditions. For particularly rough conditions, operation can be carried out via buttons and the push-turn controller. A special feature of the Axiom 2 Pro plotter is the interchangeable keypad. Depending on requirements, either a control panel for the autopilot or freely programmable soft keys can be used. Both variants are supplied as standard.

Even the basic Axiom 2 Pro S version has an integrated fishfinder, but those who need even more powerful sonar functions will find what they are looking for in the models developed for anglers with the ARVM suffix.

Prices start at 2,495 euros for the 9-inch model.
