The new plotter from Raymarine is available with 7, 9 and 12 inch screen diagonals. The display is weatherproof and should ensure good readability thanks to its high contrast and brightness. The 7S and 9S models have a resolution of 800 x 480 and the 12S model has a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels. Control is via the buttons on the right-hand edge of the housing; there is no touch function. AIS and radar data can be shown via an overlay, and engine data can also be called up on the display via NMEA2000. According to the manufacturer, an echo sounder or fish finder can also be connected, although the Element S series does not support high-resolution sonar technology. This is also less important for sailors and is due to the plotter series' concept of providing simple functionality at a fair price.
It therefore seems only logical that the navigation devices in the series are operated with a reduced version of the LightHouse operating system. Instead of LightHouse 3.9, the plotters in the Element S series are supplied with LightHouse Sport. This version does away with the display of thermal images, installation of apps, augmented reality, connection of smart devices via Wi-Fi and touch function. LightHouse NC-2, Navionics and C-Map charts are supported. The plotters can be mounted on the bulkhead or using a bracket. Price from 450 euros.
