Autumn time is working time. How to mothball your yacht properly for the winter

Out of sight, out of mind - this often also applies to your own boat. Many jobs are postponed until spring due to unwillingness or long-outdated dogmas. That's when things usually get hectic. Why this doesn't have to be the case and what work is important now can be found in the new YACHT.

There are many good reasons not to postpone maintenance, conservation and renovation work on your own boat until the new year. The relatively warm weekends in late autumn can be used to apply new coats of paint, varnish or antifouling, to name just one example.

The machine, which suffers the most in winter due to the long downtime, is also happy to receive the new preservative oil in autumn.

Early diligence can also save money if, for example, the sailmaker receives the repair order in autumn and is perhaps not yet working at full capacity. And can also afford more time and meticulousness when taking measurements.

To ensure that none of the necessary work is forgotten, YACHT has compiled a comprehensive checklist and added a few other important tips. This list is the printed conscience of every owner - so that everything will be fine in spring.
