It's often not nice what happens on the Baltic Sea during holiday periods. When everyone who owns a boat is out and about, it can get uncomfortably crowded on the water and in the harbours. We wanted to escape the hustle and bustle and experience what sailing is all about: Nature, peace and quiet, undisturbed beauty. We found it, even in the high season.
YACHT author Marc Bielefeld found the conditions described above difficult to bear even on the journey to the Kattegat and asked a Danish cruising expert for his best tips for a relaxed cruise. And they really are quite something. While in the large centres such as Ballen on Samsø you can hardly see any harbour water because of all the decks, there are magical alternatives right next door.
We present six of these magical places in the new YACHT, small islands inhabited by only a few souls or none at all. Or an impressive anchorage in front of a spectacular dune. You will find out how to get there and what little paradises await you.
And if the Kattegat is not on your sailing itinerary, there are of course wonderful places and bays like this elsewhere too. Our area experts describe twelve such wonderfully relaxing places between Funen and Rügen.
