Marina Minde, located in Egernsund on the Danish shore of Flensburg Fjord, and the neighbouring Marina Toft behind the bascule bridge are getting a prominent new owner: the Danish shipyard X-Yachts from Haderslev is acquiring both marinas. The reason for the sale is the retirement of the previous main owner Hans Lindum Møller. The company shares of co-owner Claus Boisen will also be sold. In a statement, the two said that they were delighted to have found the renowned shipyard as a buyer. "We share the same values, the customer is at the centre and service is our top priority," said Møller and Boisen. The operations of Minde (460 berths) and Toft (130) will continue unchanged.
When asked by YACHT, X-Yachts' CEO Kraen B. Nielson explained the brand's plans for the two harbours:
"There are too few winter storage facilities and moorings in Germany and Denmark, so this is a perfect fit for us. X-Yachts is very community-orientated, we regularly organise trips and regattas for our customers, which are very well received. We recently sailed a fun race to Copenhagen with 20 yachts, and in Bagenkop there were recently 20 German owners. Marina Minde will therefore become the community base for northern Germany and southern Funen for us."
Meetings are planned and in 2024 the annual X Regatta, the Gold Cup, which is expected to attract 50 to 120 yachts. Marina Minde is ideal for such events, as there is a very good restaurant on land and German crews also have a relatively short journey. In any case, 90 per cent of the permanent residents there are German owners. In addition, the shipyard's small X-charter fleet, which is currently based in Haderslev, will be relocated to Minde in future.
The purchase was quickly finalised, also because the marina is so close to the shipyard and the owners are deeply rooted in the region, so everything was a perfect fit. Both parties have agreed not to disclose the purchase price.
Nielson answered the question of whether existing permanent residents would have to leave their berths for the planned focal events in the negative. At most, a weekend might be necessary for the Gold Cup, but with the marina in Toft and the good German harbours in the immediate vicinity, there are enough alternative harbours.
