The higher hull and the large superstructure create space in the ship
Fricke & Dannhus created a wooden dinghy cruiser with more freeboard and ballast centreboard. The ideal cruising boat?

The 20 dinghy cruiser was built from moulded wood under vacuum pressure, which makes the hull as easy to maintain as a GRP boat and means that it does not have to be repainted every year or swell after being in the water in order to be watertight. Despite the larger volume and the ballasted centreboard, the boat is still easy to trailer with a total weight of 1.1 tonnes and a width of 2.50 tonnes. These are all features that are very much in favour of the owner family: Their "Lumme" stays in the shed until they have new holiday plans and destinations. The Rekowskis change cruising grounds as the mood takes them. Sometimes they are drawn to inland waters, sometimes to the Baltic Sea, and the North Sea is also planned, for which the "Lumme" has another advantage: the underwater hull is reinforced with laminate so that it can fall dry safely.

You can read about what else sets the "Lumme" apart and how well cruising without a home port works in the current issue 08 of YACHT, which is available from newsagents from 6 April. You can also order the magazine Order directly from the publisher or as Conveniently download the digital magazine.
