In doing so, the shipyard and designer Briand drew on an old idea that had already been implemented in Dufour's Atoll concept: the saloon and galley were moved on deck to maximise the number of berths. Plus a huge cockpit - all rooted in the idea that in typical warm charter areas, life takes place on deck anyway. The spatial concept is therefore similar to that of a catamaran, giving rise to the term monomaran.
On the Sun Loft 47, no fewer than six cabins and four heads have been realised. This lowers the per-head charter price, which is already favourable due to the lower purchase and operating costs of the boat compared to a catamaran.
