The shipyard from Estonia has customised another boat to the needs of the typical number of people on board

The German-Estonian shipyard Saare, owned by Thomas Nielsen from Eckernförde, is further modifying its programme. Following the great success of the Saare 38.2, which is consistently geared towards the typical crew of two, the Saare 41 has now also been adapted. This model was exhibited at boot Düsseldorf. The concept means plenty of space and comfort for two. The forward cabin has therefore been enlarged to provide more cupboard space and improved access to the berth. The bathroom is also more spacious and more comfortable. Instead of a second aft cabin, there is a multifunctional space accessible from the inside through the bathroom and from the outside, which accommodates technical equipment and serves as a walk-in locker.

Timeless look, traditional interior

In general, the interior design is very successful. The interior has a traditional, nave feel, which is due to a conventional floor, moderate curves, ventilation slots and the wood used, which is available in different types. The workmanship is of very high quality, as can be seen from the homogeneous seven-layer paintwork, the tight gaps and the neatly sanded and varnished wood even in areas that are normally concealed. A love of boatbuilding and a wealth of experience are also evident in the hinges on some of the floorboards, which are also bedded on foam rubber to ensure that they always lie straight and do not make any noise.

And much more: fresh or sea water can also be pumped quietly and economically using a foot pump. The on-board outlets are flush-mounted in the outer skin. Heated air can also be channelled into the forecastle. There is a dedicated bilge sump. All installations and components such as seacocks, fuses and pumps are easily accessible. Only one central seawater inlet is installed for the toilet and galley, which reduces the number of hull penetrations. And the position of the inlet in the centre of the saloon bilge means that water can be pumped on every bow.

In addition to such pleasing features, many of which only become apparent when the boat is in use and are not yet noticeable during a visit to the boat show, there are other positive aspects: all ten superstructure windows can be opened, plus five deck hatches and four dorade vents.

Saare 41.2: Comfort through space

The comfort dimensions are also fine: even the shorter berth to starboard could be used for sleeping if necessary, and the other cushions are large enough. The headroom in the saloon is greater than 1.90 metres everywhere. Even in the partitioned shower it is still 1.82 metres. The work surface in the galley has a modern height of 0.95 metres. Traditionalists will also like the conventional room layout with L-shaped galley at the companionway, forward-facing navigation table, L-shaped sofa and longitudinal sofa.

In the series, the Saare 41 AC is offered with two aft cabins and a forward shower room. There is also a larger forward cabin, for example, a second refrigerator in the saloon table, an additional water tank, an illuminated bar cabinet or a bunk bed in an aft cabin. The shipyard's flexibility is a major advantage. "Thanks to the small series, we can realise many special owner requests that are not possible elsewhere," promises shipyard manager Thomas Nielsen from Yachtsport Eckernförde.

A quote from the YACHT test: "Yachts from Saare are no longer an insider tip, but real alternatives to the established brands. The Saare 41 AC also meets high standards in every respect: construction, sailing characteristics, equipment and customisability. The timeless design, speed and height, the pleasant manoeuvrability, the high level of craftsmanship and the solid construction should be emphasised.
