In July of this year, Hanseyachts surprised everyone with the announcement of a new 46-footer. To everyone's surprise, the yacht builders also announced their co-operation with a new design partner. The plans for the new Hanse 460 now come from the Berret/Racoupeau Yacht Design studio in France.
The first boat has now been completed and is currently being prepared in Greifswald for its world premiere at the Salon Nautico in Barcelona in October. Prior to this, the Hanse development team had put the boat in the water for a short time, set the mast and carried out an extensive test run. The photos of the first test run can be found below in the YACHT picture gallery.
Andreas Unger, product manager for the Hanseyachts sailing boat programme and project manager involved in the development of the Hanse 460 from the very beginning, reports on the first test run with the new boat on the Greifswalder Bodden in winds of between 15 and 20 knots. "We were pleasantly surprised by the good sailing characteristics in generally rather difficult wind and wave conditions. The boat gave us a perfect feeling. The handling was also perfect all round. Our expectations were more than fulfilled." The Hanse team was particularly excited about the steering behaviour in heeling conditions. This is because the ship is very wide at the stern, but thanks to a strongly retracted waterline, only one rudder blade is required. Unger explains: "We took the construction number one very hard on trial, even far beyond the reefing limit, and deliberately sailed it with a lot of leeway. The ship never got out of control and was always fully controllable."
Following the premiere at the trade fair in Barcelona, the Hanse 460 will be thoroughly tested by the international jury as a nominee for the European Yacht of the Year 2022. The new ship has already been featured in detail in YACHT, issue 16/2021 and at YACHT online presented. The ex-shipyard price for the standard boat is 292,620 euros, including sails.
