Striking appearance. The cabin superstructure with deck saloon is quite high, and its flanks are drawn far back as high coamings. The foredeck, on the other hand, remains completely uncovered

Sporty sailing performance and maximum living comfort. The CR 490 DS is the new flagship of the Swedish brand and is designed to create sought-after compromises with a high degree of flexibility

The design for the voluminous and obviously quite high-sided blue water vessel was created by Ben Rogerson Yacht Design (BRYD) in England. The fixed keel with a draught of 2.25 metres is standard, along with two relatively short rudder blades. However, the ship can also be built with a hydraulic swivelling keel on request. This allows the draught to be reduced from a maximum of 3.15 metres to 1.10 metres at the touch of a button. The new, large CR is equipped with a relatively high and sporty aluminium rig and three spreaders, optionally also as a furling mast. Either a short overlapping genoa or the self-tacking jib can be combined with this. A relatively long bowsprit is permanently attached for additional space sails such as a code zero or gennaker. It also serves as an anchor holder.

The cabin superstructure of the deck saloon yacht with its raised seating area appears relatively bulky and visually dominant, but ends behind the mast. This means that the foredeck remains completely unobstructed and can also be used as a huge area for sunbathing. The brand's new flagship is controlled by two steering wheels in the aft cockpit. All sheets, halyards and trim lines are deflected below deck and inside the cockpit coaming to the rear, right in front of the steering columns. The helmsman should be able to operate all the functions easily and simply, even when sailing alone. The cockpit is installed low down and is very well protected at the sides by the high coamings that are pulled far back. In addition, a fixed windscreen in front of the companionway provides good protection against wind and wet conditions. A storage space for the dinghy is now provided in the stern of the large CR, accessible via a large, folding bathing platform. A small dinghy with motor can be stored here at right angles to the direction of travel.

The interior has a classic deck saloon layout. A centre cabin with a double bed is installed under the raised seating area. Two further double cabins fill the entire aft section of the ship. The owners live in the foredeck with plenty of space. Judging by the first layout drawings, the central island bed is very generously proportioned, and there is a separate bathroom with toilets, washbasin and separate shower area. The kitchen is recessed into the side of the saloon as a long row. However, customers generally have a choice of different options for the interior design. As a semi-custom concept, the shipyard aims to fulfil individual wishes as far as possible within the limits of technical feasibility.

The shipyard in Sweden has already sold two boats of the new CR 490 DS type. This is confirmed by Mattias Rutgersson, Managing Director of the Sweden Yachts Group, which includes the brands Sweden Yachts, Malö Yachts and Regina Yachts in addition to CR-Yachts. The moulds are currently being built at the shipyard in Kungsviken. However, the shipyard has not yet announced the prices.
