"We can only do it right," summarises Managing Director Thomas Dan Hougaard. By this he means yachts in small series, individually built by hand according to the shipyard's suggestions and the customer's ideas, equipped to a high standard and sailing well and safely, as well as being easy to handle with a small crew, naturally attractive to look at and timeless in design. The entire portfolio of sailing desires, so to speak.
The latest and largest implementation of these ideas can be seen at boot in Hall 15, where it already impressed visitors on the first weekend, according to Hougaard, which recently merged with its neighbour Nordship and is exhibiting with it on the stand. The new Faurby 460 E is more modern than its predecessors with a comparatively wide stern and the largest width of 3.90 metres at around three-fifths of the length, but traditionally remains narrower than comparable competitors.
The sheets are guided on large Andersen winches aft on the two wheels. The halyards are operated further forward on the coaming, leaving the coachroof free of controls. The superstructure is characterised by individual windows, three superstructure hatches and a sprayhood garage. The interior is finished in oak; teak, khaya mahogany or other wood is also possible - as is a different interior layout. On show in Düsseldorf is a three-cabin version with a wet room accessible from the saloon and navigation opposite, a large U-shaped seating area and longitudinal pantry. An owner's bathroom is located in the foredeck with a large separable wet room, a large three-piece wardrobe opposite and a full-size berth in front.
More from Faurby:
What is striking is the high quality of the woodwork with solid or laminated mouldings, joinery, clean finishes and joints, as well as the excellent paintwork. This is what the customer must be able to expect: he pays 619,000 euros, but can look forward to a lead keel, rod rig, hydraulic backstay tensioner, electric foresail furling system, sails, bowsprit and an interior as well as equipment without any major additional wishes.
