This is a real competitive offer, a price for which the customer is far from getting a minimally equipped Bente 28, for example. The Viko S 35, on the other hand, already comes with (reduced) equipment: the basic price includes the engine (Yanmar, 15 hp), sails (half-battened main and genoa made of Dacron), wheel steering (central), winches (Lewmar's 30s), battery (one with 60 ampere hours), cushions, spirit cooker and LED lighting. The options list then includes a more powerful engine, double wheels, larger winches, more battery capacity and other desirable equipment. All in all, a competitive offer that will apply to the first build numbers. "In this way," says Viko dealer André Hochfeld from Yachthandel Hamburg, "we are targeting customers who are moving from the price level in the used boat market. No other shipyard serves this segment."
Impressions from on board: The design by Italian designer Sergio Lupoli looks modern and appealing, even if it is not unique. At 3.74 metres, the ship is quite wide. The stern is half-open, with helmsman's seats with backrests and small lockers moulded behind the wheels. A look inside reveals neat lamination work and a cosmetically neat seal with topcoat. The cockpit is very wide and can be sensibly parcelled out with a cockpit table. The coaming is high, so the cockpit is well protected. The mainsheet is probably too low with a 1:4 tackle. The traveller is recessed. Surprisingly, the optional handrails are fitted at mast height. The bulwark is high, around 20 centimetres at the front.
The American oak veneered interior has a bright and uncluttered appearance. A wide double door to the foredeck creates a generous impression of space. A two-cabin and a three-cabin version are available. The latter has very narrow aft cabins.
The shipyard has already announced the next big hit: a Viko 40 at 92,000 euros, available from 2020.
