Blokarts are very simple beach sailers, lightweight, relatively safe and easy to operate. YACHT author Nils Theuer calls them the "Dutch bikes of beach sailing": "cheap, robust and comparatively good-natured". At least that's how he experienced them during his debut on the beach of the Danish island of Fanø.
In YACHT, issue 15/2018, he reports on his experiences, and it is a story that is certainly encouraging: "Anyone who can sail can handle such vehicles straight away." Unfortunately, this constellation harbours a danger: the sailor who sets off without any problems quickly tends to be overconfident and, like our author, has to realise in case of doubt that capsizing is also possible on land. But first and foremost, it's a huge pleasure to speed across a beach in a Blokart.
However, this is not permitted everywhere, and in Germany in particular, various regulations must be observed.
