Who doesn't know the feeling when the supposed summer weather on the North Sea and Baltic Sea is not as summery as it should be according to the calendar? Or when it's cold and wet in the early and late season. How nice it would be to have your boat moored in the Mediterranean...
Anyone considering a change of cruising area should always take a targeted approach and not just be guided by the prospect of new experiences. How much does it cost to transfer the yacht? What about the berth prices? Are there any special rules in the area that need to be observed? Are there any taxes? What is the service level of the marinas? Are there other yachting customs?
Such questions are sometimes not easy to answer for those unfamiliar with the region. We have therefore compiled the relevant key data for six countries in the Mediterranean region: Spain, France, Italy, Croatia, Greece and Turkey. To make it easier to compare marina prices, we selected 15 established harbours in each country that are popular with German owners and researched the mooring costs for a 37-foot and a 45-foot yacht as examples. From this, we calculated an average value and put it in relation to the local price level. This gives owners an initial rough guide to what they need to be prepared for financially.
