Italy opens from 3 June
The government in Rome is pressing ahead with the ramp-up of the maritime sector. The first rules for owners and charter guests are in place

The openings are now also taking place in the Mediterranean in quick succession. After Croatia has already opened its borders to owners and charter customers will soon be able to enter the country, Italy is now following suit. On Sunday evening, it was announced that the country would reopen to tourists, including owners and charter crews, on 3 June. And the Italians are one of the first countries to present a comprehensive, detailed concept on how sailors should behave. It is available on the Website of the responsible ministry published unfortunately only in Italian so far. The basic principle is that only people from the same household may stay overnight in a cabin on board. If the charter guests do not come from the same household, the usual social distancing rules apply. How this is to be complied with on a charter yacht is not explained in detail, but it is also not explicitly mentioned that only persons from one household may be on board.

It is clearly regulated that all crew members must wear face masks during the handover of the charter yacht, in the harbour and above all during the harbour manoeuvres for mooring and casting off in order to protect the marina staff and crew members on the neighbouring ships.
