Baltic Sea: How to enter Denmark!Photo: Yacht / A. Fritsch
This is how it works when entering Denmark!
We asked readers to share their experiences of entering and sailing in our northern neighbour. The first reports are now available

After the Danes reopened the border to German crews under certain conditions after 15 June, there was still a lot of uncertainty, as the regulations for the six overnight stays in marinas that had to be proven were not bindingly regulated in the text of the Danish police ordinance. The initiative of the Danish harbour operators then seemed to be the solution.

The editorial team has now received the first experiences from crews, which we would like to make available to all Baltic Sea sailors. It seems that there are no major problems, at least for ships flying the German flag, but there are definitely controls and different procedures in the individual harbours.

Here is our report on entering the port by boat on 23/06/2020.
On 22 June, we called the harbour master in Gedser to make a reservation. He told us that a reservation was not necessary. He had laid out forms for six days at the payment machine, in which you should simply enter the harbours one after the other during the course of the trip. Anchoring would also be possible.
When we arrived at 4pm on 23 June, we found the form as promised.
An hour later, the police stood in front of our boat and checked us.
A nice police officer explained to us that we had to fill in the form directly for the first six harbours.
This form should then be sent to reservation@havneguide.dk, from where you will then receive a confirmation email of the planned trip, which is then considered a booking of the trip, but does not mean a reservation of berths in the individual marinas.
If the itinerary is changed due to weather, wind or overcrowded marinas, this would also be okay.
We promptly received the confirmation email, after which we continued our journey via Femø to Korsør.
By the way: During the police check in Gedser, a sailing yacht flying the Swiss flag was also checked.
This yacht had to leave the harbour immediately and, as it was already evening, was allowed to anchor outside the harbour and then leave Denmark directly."

"According to the attached internet post, we registered with the address and received positive feedback very quickly. We are currently on Bornholm and enjoying the summer here. The harbours (Rønne, Hasle) are about half full. Social distancing is requested in the supermarket (Netto), we haven't seen any masks yet. Voluntary Covid-19 test is offered in Rønne.

For the municipal harbours, the 6-day stay is well organised by machine.
Book six days, pay five, total DKK 1065 applies to Rønne, Hasle, Hammerhavn, Sandvig, Allinge, Tejn, Nørresand, Gudhjem and Svaneke. At each of these harbours, you can register your stay at the machine with the number and pin of your first booking. You will then receive the sticker to attach to the boat and the code to the sanitary facilities."

"We entered Denmark in Flakfortet and then travelled to Helsingør. The harbour master in Flakfortet greeted us in a friendly manner and collected the money; in Helsingør we paid at the machine. We were not informed of any entry restrictions. We are now on our way around Zealand. Our Lagoon 420 is not exactly inconspicuous. We didn't see any other German or even Swedish yachts. The coastguard just sailed alongside us for 20 minutes, but left again without radio contact."
