The Skagen collection is aimed at cruising sailors and is designed to keep you warm and dry even in persistently bad weather

The Skagen oilskin combination consists of a jacket and dungarees and is available in men's and women's versions. The jacket has a high collar and a solid hood to protect the neck and face. The usual storage and heat pockets with fleece lining for offshore oilskins are included. The elbows and seat area are also provided with robust reinforcements. The knees and seat of the dungarees are reinforced with Cordura material. The bib has a high back and a quick-drying lining on the inside.

The material used is a two-layer construction. The outer layer is made of polyamide, 42 per cent of which is made from recycled fishing nets. The polyester membrane underneath is made from 48 per cent recycled plastic and the inner lining is made from 100 per cent recycled material.

According to the manufacturer, special emphasis is placed on reducing the amount of plastic waste that ends up in the sea. For this reason, the raw materials used for polyamide recycling are primarily abandoned or lost and discarded fishing equipment such as buoys and nets. According to Helly Hansen, this fishing waste makes up the largest proportion of marine litter. In addition, polyester waste such as PET bottles are collected in a strip of around 50 kilometres along the coast. Further information on recycling can be found on the Helly Hansen website .

The Skagen jacket is available in the colours yellow, red and dark blue and costs 360 euros. The trousers is available in yellow and an anthracite colour called ebony. It is available for 260 euros.
